My Journey to Joy

Feeling overwhelmed by the tasks of life?

Are you trying to live up to the expectations of others?

Do you want to connect with family and friends on a deeper level?

I’m Beth, and I’ve been there.  I’ve felt that my house wasn’t clean enough or pretty enough or big enough.  The meals I serve my family are basic recipes, not fancy fare.  I’m not trendy or skinny.  Taking the afternoon off to play with my kids sounded like a luxury I couldn’t afford.  I wasn’t having joy in my life because I was too busy trying to live up to the expectations of others.

I went to college and pursued a degree in Nursing.  Four years later, I graduated with a bachelors degree in nursing but a desire to stay out of the hospital and minister to people’s spiritual and physical needs through camping ministry.

Before getting married and having kids I worked at a large Christian camp.  I spent five summers in various positions on summer staff and five years in full-time ministry at the same camp.  I learned  what it takes to make chaos run smoothly and keep it that way, for over 100 summer staff and 350 campers each week as well as programming weekend retreats for teens, parents and children.  I also was blessed to write many Bible studies:  some for children, some for small groups, some for teens and some for adults.  I learned more life skills working at camp than I did in college!

Letting Go of Expectations

When I let go of the shoulds in my life and embraced the needs, I was able to simplify my life, find purpose in every day and experience pleasure, satisfaction and joy!

Connecting with my husband, daily, is a joyful blessing.  Home schooling my children and raising them to thrive in life is now a joy and not a burden.  Reading good books, exercising, eating yummy healthy food and using a clean bathroom happens without much thought or effort.

I joyfully connect with God each day and love to use my God-given gifts of teaching and writing to help others connect with God too.

The Power of Habits

Perfection is NOT the key to excellence.  Consistency is the key to excellence.  I want to empower you to develop simple, sustainable habits, so you have the time to do what you want to do, instead of just what you have to do.  And I want it to be a joyful experience!
